Does the Juhn Deere number 8 mower have any kind of slip clutch or other protective device in the power shaft?

I got one from my neighbor this week end and put on the MTA and popped the pitman off the sicle when it plugged with grass. The old number 5 had a slip clutch. Maybe the power shaft is not stock.

Any help would be appreciated

Thanks to all for the advice. The picture was great. Now all I ned to do is adjust the clutch so it releases before I really tear something up!!

Yes the No. 8 has a slip clutch and it is located inside the drive at the top. I will place a cross sectional picture in Parts & Pieces area.
