help!!!

i am restoring a new idea W5 wire tie baler, and am stuck on getting coils of wire for it. the coils are 9" in diameter and 3" thick of 14.5 ga baling wire. i believe, tho i am not sure that the coils for a john deere 116 or 114 would be the same. in the new idea, the wire feeds out of the center of the coil, which is stationary, as opposed to some of the later wire tie balers where the coil rotated and the wire was drawn from the outside

can anyone help me find some wire? thnx tom

Just went out and measured a new roll for J D 116. 9" diameter, 4" thick with 3 1/8" center hole, 3150 ft. per roll, packed 2 rolls to a box and 14.5 gauge wire

From what I can find it is not avaible anyplace. Local farm supply place can no longer get any wire. All I can say is just look at anyplace you can think of and my box does not have a name on it. One poster said he had some, look him up.

Where are you located? I have 4 or 5 boxes for a John Deere 116 . Don't have their measurements
but your requiremnts sounds like the size I remember. Will check 1st thing in the morning to make sure. May have some rust, but did oil the boxes a year ago. I have used rusty wire myself, and if you oil them after you get them in their boxes on the baler, they will not give you any problem. Unless they are rusted half way through.

Never heard of that spec. My wire baler uses wire that says 6500 ASAE, 14.5 gage, 6500 feet long, 8 1/8 inch inside diameter, 13 1/4 inch outside diameter, 5 inches wide. Also pulls out the center of the side of the roll through a hole in the box. TSC has this spec.

What you have is too new, The last John Deere 116 wire baler was made in 56 with the first in 46 and the New Idea would have been made in very early 50's or late 40's
