New Holland bale thrower info needed

Can anyone tell me what size v-belts are needed for a NH 53A thrower? I got the manuals from New Holland for both the baler (273) and the thrower, but neither specifies the sizes of the two v-belts which drive the thrower. They don't show how to remove and replace the belts either, is there an easier way than just disassembling the whole thing?

Thanks in advance for any help!

The 90 deg belt on my model 50 is a 1764-C. Would bet it would fit your 53A.

I have a model 50 that's probably pretty similar. Had a bearing problem last year and had to change the 90 deg. belt quite a few times. You have to remove the top idler pulley, the right side of the thrower's main shaft, all the tensioner springs and the left side of the pulley assembly frame. Yeah it's a pain the first couple of times, but I've got it down to about ten minutes now. I might have a sleeve from a replacement belt in the baler. I'll check.

There is a fair amount of disassembly required to replace the 90 degree belt, but it has been too long since I have done one to recall it step by step. I seriously doubt NH went to the trouble to write an operator's manual for that thrower and omitted belt replacement instructions. Look in the maintanence section.

The manual describes how to adjust the belt tension, but not how to remove them. It also doesn"t give any specs for the length, etc. I guess I"m going to have to disassemble it when the time comes. Not looking forward to that!
