I have a vermeer super I round baler with twin electric tie. Everything works right as far as tying the twine, but the twine cutter will not cut the twine. Tried new knife blades, adjusted the cutter mechanism. It's like the blades rub on the twine but not enough to cut. I need help.

I have made extensions for the knifes to get them lower. I used a some thin sheet metal and cut it in the shape of a "T". Drill two "1/4" holes in the far left and right end of the horizontal part. Make a another straight piece to match the horizontal part with holes. The blade will clamp between the two pieces. Then turn the "T" upside down and insert where the knife would normally go. Adjust the length by moving the "T" in the orginal holder.

Have had same problem with our 3yr old Vermeer baler. Found linkage bent between electric actuator and swing arm mechanism. To busy to take chance on breaking linkage (threaded aircraft swivels on either end) in mid haying season I lengthened link for now, making it cut the twine again. The link bent, the arms werent swinging fully wide enough for twine to pass over knives. Believe cause was forcing electric cylinder to travel against its will. Suggest when cylinder appears bound, reverse direction (or swing it to restart twine possition) and then 2nd try tying the bale. Hope this helps.

Your knives are not coming down far enough. You will have to extend the knife plunger only 3-4 turns and that should do it. You have to be careful that you do not go too far and the arms can hit the knives. Call 423-282-6969 and ask for Jeff in the shop.

The adjustment is so fine, it's like a 1/4 to turn and you are hittting the arms on the knives. Thought about adjusting the set screw that stops the actuator so I would get more movement of the knives after the arms had past.
