I"ve been checking into airating the hay fields and found that the county has one that they rent. Only concern I have is that it appears to sink in about 8-10 inches, and that will most certainly bring up a ton of rocks! I spend several months each Winter picking rocks as it is. On the other hand, I have a spike tooth harrow and was wondering if I add enough wieght to sink it about 3-4 inches, will that be enough to do any helpful airating? It will still likely bring up some rocks, but not nearly as many or as big. I"m trying to get this Bermuda to do its" best and want every advantage I can get. Any thoughts or suggestions?

A spike tooth harrow will scratch along over the top and jump around all over the place, even more so with extra weight on top- will try to tear itself apart. An aerator pokes holes in the ground. Try a search for 'aerway' brand- they make a unit that can be angled or run straight- to minimize ripping up the sod. May find a rental unit.
