Hello,
I have an old ford 5' brush hog, been told its a 901 but don't know for sure. The slip clutch hub is wore out and it wobbles on the input shaft. I would like to fix this before it ruins the shaft. Does anyone have an idea where I might find one?...everytime I call the ford dealer for anything they say its N.L.A. Thanks

TSC has them around here (SE Nebraska). My JD 5' hog had the same problem. I just removed the clutch all together and drilled for a shear pin. Works great and only cost $12 for a new knuckle on the driveshaft. I do run an ORC (overrunning clutch) on everything - even though I have live PTO.

I'm just curious. Why do you run an ORC on everything? I've been thinking of doing it on my rotary cutter to save the independent PTO clutch.

We ran our massey 285 on the silage blower for a frew years when our Oliver 1600 just couldn't hack it anymore. After the first couple years, the pto brakes were shot and we had to send it in for repairs. I am just about done rebuilding the 1600 now, so we plan on putting that one on the blower again. Some tractors just don't hold up to blowers. my cousin runs a 285 on his blower, hasn't had problems yet. go figure. Donovan from Wisconsin

And yes, we do idle down before shutting down.

I just figured it was extra insurance! The PTO takes a lot of beating, especially while hogging - thought the $45 I spent on an ORC is better than $$$$$ to fix a PTO.

You can buy the slipclutch complete from Tisco somewhat reasonably IF you need the version for 1 3/8" spline on the gearbox input. I don't know of a source for the 1 1/8" but maybe you could bush the shaft up if you have the smaller 1 1/8" input.
