The Oliver Plow.... (Fordson)

ok.. So my grandpa has told me that when they started having troubles selling the Fordson F Models then they started selling a 2 bottom Oliver plow with them.. has anyone ever heard this? I have looked at some old time adds and I havent seen it advertised but in most pictures i would see the Fordson pulling a two bottom plow.. wether it was oliver i am not sure.... now on to my question... We bought a 2 bottom oliver plow at some flea market auction thingy... we bought it for 27 dollars.. works excellent besides the fact that it nees weight to dig in... It has the rooster comb lift mechanism.. we sandblasted it and painted it... but i am not quite sure what model it is yet... I was just wondering if you would be able to tell me by some of the history (or thought to be history) I gave to you... if not i will get the serial number off of it sometime when i get a chance
(oh ya and does anyone know of a website like YTMAG that is purely implements instead of tractors? )

your plow does not need weight to dig in. Either the ground is too hard and dry or else(more likely) the points are worn too much. The points should curve down slightly at the tip. This creates "suck" to pull the plow bottom into the ground. This can be quickly remidied by welding on a short piece of leaf spring, (curved down).

Both Oliver and John Deere made what was called a Fordson plow, lighter than others in lineup and also with a fixed setting hitch just correct for the Fordson wheel tread that was smaller than most others, 10-20 Intrenational and GP standard John Deere also had same width tread so plow would work with those tractors also but they came out later than the Fordson but the Fordson needed a plow to match and Ford did not make a plow so the other companies hookrd up to the popularity of the Fordson with Implements made just for the Fordson, Moline made a 2 row cultivator and the conversion to make the Fordson a rowcrop tractor for that cultivator

I beieve you'll find that it was an Oliver(Cockshutt) no. 7 plow. I have one here and somewhere have a reprint of a Fordson add promoting both the tractor and plow.

Its my understanding that Oliver made plows for the Fordson, but ole Henry became more intrested in his cars and Oliver decided they needed to find another tractor to hitch their plow to, enter Hart Parr.
