What model of cutter is it? You also should have a tag on the gearbox with the actual number of the gearbox.Let me know and i should be able to help you.

Well I know I've stripped out the gearbox on mine, I'll try to find the tag or number you're talking about, cause I have no idea what to replace it with. Does anybody know what they cost? 5' bush hog and almost looks like a homemade job.

upon closer inspection and removal of the top plate-the oil seal is gone and the roller bearing must be replaced i believe all else is in good condition. So now I just have to do it.
Thanks
JF

I will get it to you in a couple of hours. The reason i am concerned about the gearbox is that the cutter shakes when you use it and I just realized that the thing developed a leak and may be low on gear oil.

did you hit anything recently?, I tangled with just the right sized stone and it tore big chunks out of my blades, machine vibrated pretty bad until I put new ones on

after heavy grinding, I weigh both blades on fish scale to make sure they are close
