Busted hay, need help

We have about 75 bales worth of hay in the barn that has busted due to "bad handeling" and other things. What is the best way to clean this mess up??? I thought about pulling it out of the barn and spreading it into windrows in the yard and re-baleing it. Just seems there might be a better way.
Thanks,
Matthew

just rebale it and use Bridon brand poly twine period. I rebale all the time usually large round into small square thou. I have very very few broken bales since switching. If i do it is usually might fault with the grapple

Bad Handling means pulling them out of the stack and making some one-leggers? Yeah, it happens. Might want to try stacking on edge, cut side up.

Mice are a lot more of a problem in straw (especially if there's some grain left in the windrow) than in hay.

If you have cattle, fork it on the wagon and feed it loose. Otherwise, pull the baler up and fork it in. Do this every year after cleaning out sheds.

You sure it's bad handling? Sounds like mice. When I used string I threw bait packs down in the corners between the bales a few very tier and it greatly reduced cut strings. I always found empty bait packs when we loaded out the hay or straw.

You know it could be, never thought about it, used to have a few cats around, not so many anymore.

Thanks everyone. I'll just pull her up to the door & fork away. Sure will beat making windrows by hand in the barnyard.

i do it everytime i'm done baling for awhile. just pull the baler up to the door and fork away! doesn't hurt a thing. the only other option would be to kick it out the door for the livestock. if i don't have time to re-bale i'll call a neighbor and he'll bring down a rack and i'll push it out the door and he'll go feed his animals. makes for good relationships.

you can park the baler in front of the barn and let her spin, toss loose hay in after taking out strings and hayhooks

bales will be sloppy as the knives will be cutting hay again

You don't think that it would mess up the timing on the baler do you?

Only if you wait too late and it gets confused between winter and summer.
Seriously, I've seen it done lots of times with straw stacks. Pull close and fork the hay to the machine. Be careful you don't bale the fork.
