Wasn't the Ford 6000 rated at just 60 horsepower?

75 HP-on the 6000-- Ford rated their 800-900 45 hp for 4 bottom we had a new 800 and pulled 3 very easy BUT we had good river bottom no gumbo ---the neighbor pulled 4 with a new 4010 JD and the smoke rolled---gumbo---The 5 and 6 bottom Ford plows were 14 in bottoms and Ford had a real good draft control--sure it wouldn't pull 6 every where--I'd like to find one just for show don't want to have to work on the select O Speed trans-after I just got it painted

Dave, even at 75 HP the 5 btm would be a real load here in SW Iowa. We pulled a fully mounted 4-16s with a 4010, easy going most of the time on the river bottom. Didn't go to a 5 btm until we got the 4020, by then we were farming some hill ground with heavy clay and had to drop down a couple of gears to get through some of it. This is probably why I have never seen a 5 or 6 bottom Ford plow around here. I agree though, it would be fun to have one just for show. I'll keep my eyes and ears open.
