What is Broome Grass? What's it used for and why would you want to plant it? I assume that Broome Grass is different from Broome Straw, the stuff that is basically a weed growing in my Bahia pasture.

I'VE NEVER HEARD OF "BROOME GRASS" BUT I USED TO HELP A FARMER HARVEST BROOME CORN AND HE SOLD THE SEED AND STALK, WHICH WAS PROCESSED (SHREDDED)INTO "BROOME STRAW" WHICH IN TURN WAS USED TO MAKE BROOM'S.

There is brome grass which is a high quality cool season grass. Broom sage which is a weedy sage invasive in areas of poor grass stands mostly associated with low pH or low phosphate.

If you have broom straw in your pasture then you need lime bad. I would pull a soil sample

I think you mean "Brome" grass. It's used up here as horse feed and commonly seeded with alfalfa. A tall grass similar to Timothy but without the fuzzy seed head.
