Good afternoon Gents,

I've attached a pic of the thrower with 2 areas circled. The bottom area seems to be where some type of bale trip mechanism should be to send the thrower into action.

When moved the other way it seems to lock out the valve. Anyone know how this part should work?

From the sound of your post, you are buying some parts from a neighbor or ?, and there is no manual involved. Be aware that someone without familiarity to the JD thrower, whether pto or hydraulic, can be severely injured or killed by not knowing how it operates. The thrower can go through the eject cycle even if the baler is shut off.

be careful around those things, see link. All the "scalping" incidents seem to involve the power shaft to the thrower.

There is no power shaft to a #30 thrower. All hydraulic.

Go to the link below.

In the upper LH area, click on "Model Search", and enter "30", and you can then view the parts catalog to see what you're missing.

The top lever is used to engage/disengage the thower, push it to toward the back and it will throw automatically, pull it toward the front and it disengages the thrower allowing you to drop bales on the ground. The bottom lever is used to operate the pan manually, push down and it will make the pan throw. That slot in the back of the pan is where the trigger should be, when the bale passes over it the trigger gets pushed down causing the pan to throw.

The missing trigger mechenism is part of the yellow frame work for the side screens not in the picture.

Darn, it didn't come with any sidescreens or the trigger stuff. I should call the guy to see if anything else is sitting up in his shed.
