No Till Equipment

I would like to plant some corn, but due to my Spring being hectic, and well as soil erosion issues, I would like to try to no till corn. Can anyone recommend a machine to do this? As usual, Fortunately, I don't want to plant more than a couple of acres a year, which helps my minimal equipment budget!

Any advice on equipment (or otherwise) will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Bill

Allis -Chamlers model #333 are still reliable machines and are cheap in most ares. Row units are tool bar mounted so if you buy a four row and only want to plant two just remove two and use them for parts. Simple to operate and maintain.

Find a good two row double disc planter and weld or bolt a coulter assembly to your tool bar.

You know I have looked but I just haven't seen any two row no-till planters. They may make them but I haven't seen any.The smallest I have seen are 4 row. I plant about 4 acres and it really isn't very economical for me to buy even a used 4 row for such a small quantity. I don't have erosion issues so I just disk and use a $175 used Covington planter that the rust holds together.

I used a three row no-till planter this year to plant 15 acres. I rented it from an Amish farmer. I guess that is as big a planter as the horses can pull. I think it is a specially made planter with John Deere parts made by Pequea. Worked great, I have a nice stand of corn.

3 row horse planter is handy for 2 horse hitch. Have seen pictures of 4 row planters being pulled by horses also around Wisconsin- sulky with 4 horse 2x2 hitch. 3 row cultivator used with 2 horses would match the 3 row planter.
