I did a search on my new (older than the holls) MF #29 pinwheel or finger rake. I saw a discussion on how it can be used in three ways. Assume make windrow, turn windrow and it said tedding as well.

Can we go over this whole process. I have a field of thick long messy clover and grass and dont want to get too big of a row so that it will dry fast. I am cutting with a 7' sickle mower. I am square baling with a NH 273. I am raking with a 9n tractor. I will be doing all of this soon. My rake pivots at the 3ph and at each of the 2 sections of wheels. It also seems to change degrees of angle with a square nut and lock down nut.

How should I set up to make my windrows?

How should I set up to turn my windrows over?

It seems to me that the wheels can spin right around and point the other way with the tines, so there must be a correct way and an incorrect way to point the tines. Which is each direction used for?

Nuthin is easy!

This doesn't answer your question, but I have an old dealer parts book for that rake. If you're interested in having it shoot me an email. Just click on the Jim.UT above.

A picture is worth 1000 words. The Sitrex site is one of the most miserable ones to visit with a dial-up connection, and they supply info on some pages & not others - no orginization to it. But this page should show you a bit of a diargam of how to do different tasks. If you look at each model of their wheel rakes, you might find a better drawing - I saw better a while ago, but I got tired of searching after finding this. :)
