JD 14T parts

Today as I was baling, the plunger pitman shaft broke. That"s the pipe between the crank arm and the plunger. They are no longer available so I was wondering if anybody has one they want to get rid of. Thanks for any help out there.

Glad to hear that someone else is using a 14T .... ours has baled for three generations now ... touch wood, this year the only bale it mis tied was when we forgot to knot in the new ball of twine... mind you this baler is in semi retirement, only does about 4000 a year now... used to do 8000 to 10,000 per year about 40 years or so ago.

I have 2 of them for parts ones a 14T and the other is a 24T but either one would work on that baler. But I'm in Missouri, if you want more info drop me a line

Check out Stephens in Franktown. I was in their salvage lot and saw a few older John Deere balers. I used to have a 14T, but it was too worn out to fix anymore, so I sold it.

Where did the arm break - and what did you hit to cause it to break?

I"m wondering if the two ends are still intact, could you have the center section rebuilt?

BTW, where are you located?

It looked like it was cracked for some time where it connects to the plunger and that's where it broke. The end went under the plunger and the crank arm bent the other end in a 90. It killed my Farmall 400 before I could disengage the PTO it happened so fast. I'm about 40 miles SW of Denver, CO

It's common to see that end welded back on on these old balers. Just remove it, press out the bushing, and weld it back on, perhaps with a couple of little gussets for added strength.

Are your plunger guides and wearpads on the plunger in good shape, so the plunger doesn't "cock" from side to side as it moves through it's stroke, twisting the "connecting rod", hastening it's breakage?
