The bales are coming out of the chute, curled up. The top and bottom tension bars move freely up and down. Can anyone give me any clues about how to cure this? Thanks!

The dogs and wedges are ok. The tension is fine. The tension bars move freely, without tension on them. I have some old wedges out of a MF12 baler, that I may add to the bottom, if the windrow/speed combo does not work. I never had this problem with my old NH 69. Also, it was interesting to not that I could never chang emy bale shape by changeing fork position in the 12 years that I used it. I finally welded a pice of flat bar to one wedge, to make it protude into the bale chute further.

Thanks guys.

Chick, make larger windrows, shift up a gear or slow pto speed. What causes the bale to turn up is plungerhead repeatedly hitting same hay in chamber rather than feeding in new hay.Try one of the things I suggested.Tx Jim

"The bales are coming out of the chute, curled up."

If the tend to curle upwards out of the shoot, then I would say look at the bale tension, and or the hay dogs. If they curle off to the side, feed forks and wedges.

"The top and bottom tension bars move freely up and down."

I hope thats with no hay in the baler. They should be very tight against the bale. You would not move them with a bale in it.

"Can anyone give me any clues about how to cure this?"

Hope I did.

"Thanks!"

Your welcome.
