New Holland Baler Knotter Questions

I have a 1961 NH Super 69 Hayliner baler. Attempted to make some minor adjustment to the knotters recently and apparently messed it up even more. One of the bill hooks has done a 180 degree turn around it's post from where it is suppose to be, now I cannot seem to budge it. I found it like this earlier, then loosened its holder and resecured it. Next time it tried to tie, it slipped around 180 degrees again. The owners manual does not seem to be of much help. Also, the "twine cleaners" (?) seem to be clogged-up with twine debris. Is this normal? If not, how do you get those things cleaned out? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

If the billhook is still pinned to its pinion, excessive knotter stack endplay may have allowed the billhook pinion to jump time on its cam gear. Remove the capbolt and shims from the RH end of the knotter shaft, loosen the pinch bolt on the needle crank arm, and drive the crank arm to the right on the knotter shaft until you can put the billhook back in time. Then use the cap bolt with just the heavy washer less any shims to pull the crank arm and brake disc back onto the shaft, tightening the knotter stack until the knotters just rotate down by their own weight when unbolted and tipped up. Select shims just sufficient to allow the cap bolt to get tight without further tightening the stack. Tighten the pinch bolt on the crank arm. If the manual isn'tr much help, read it again. NH baler manuals are pretty good if you understand basic baler function.

JKC, The bill hook is pinned to the gear that turns it. Possibly the pin is broken. Its been a while since I worked on one, so maybe someone else can give better advice.
