I just thought I'd let every one know what worked for us to get rid of the coons that've been helping themselves to our sweet corn. It's a powdered fly bait & Coke cocktail. I guess it's really sweet and they lap it right up, thinking how nice Farmer's been to give them something to wash the corn down with. Found 4 on the 1st day we tried it. Now we're hoping that's all of 'em, but we'll keep setting it out for the little buggers. Donovan from Wisconsin

Be careful who all you tell this to. There are some legal ramifications involved here with the conservation departments. Also be aware that most of these concoctions are also deadly on household pets, especially dogs and cats. Unfortunately, I found out the hard way.

not too worried about pets, our patch is in the middle of the feild corn, pretty far from the house.

If we loose a few barn cats, it aint the end of the world either, last count was about 40 in sight. Well over 50. We started giving them lutalace (sp??) to make them non-fertile. After having to constantly fork dead kittens/cats onto the pile, you really get sick of it. Just 2-3cc in their milk once a week, chemically spays all the female cats. If we want kittens again, just quit the drugs and all's normal again. Then again, we're the first farm in the country, so people think "this'll make a good home for our cat that's pregnant, lets drop her off at night so they don't see us"

I honestly don't know, as it's a joint patch between My parents & me, and my brother. My dad and brother set up the tinfoil bread pans for them. I'd think whatever looks good oughta do it, don't take much to kill a small animal. Donovan from Wisconsin

Had the same problem with the raccoons. We used a wire cage & trapped 14 of them and took them off to the national forest.

Oh man. Don do you have any idea what you have just done? Now you will have a whole woods full of little furry buggers hooked on coke, without jobs, eating someone elses food, trespassing, and who knows whatall, and now the little furry bugger police are gonna be after you for creating a delinquincy to a little furry bugger problem. Don't have to worry about a woods full, only one near our farm is being developed, and is split into 4 lots for houses. So far 1 house is built.

mmmmm....sure sounds like some of my neighbors. hooked on coke, stealing, trespassing w/o permission, eating someone else's food, no job, wandering around all night. maybe the 'coons would be better neighbors?

I went to Yellowstone this month and saw a lot of those two-legged furry ones like you described. More than 14- they must be mating!

Nobody traps them anymore since the bunny huggers ruined the market. They're too mean for coyotes to tangle with, so no natural enemys except us. Coons are real hard on the quail, ducks etc nests.
The idiots always think they're doing environment a favor and end up turning it upside down.
