Am looking to upgrade to a belt baler from my NH chain baler. Am almost certain I will get a JD 535 because they are in my price range and I do like green. Will still be keeping my faithful NH for wild hay and ditches. My question is..... how much does it cost to wrap a 5x5 bale with net wrap. Am looking at a 535 with that option. I will have hay to sell so want a better looking bale. Costing me aproximately 70 cents per bale to tie with sisal this summer. A 535 makes a nice bale with sisal or plastic twine but net wrap looks very nice when at the auction. Kind of a pain to cut off but that will be someone elses problem..... lol I bought some 2 years ago and it looked like it had 2 wraps around.

It is advisable to remove the bearings on the top roller on JD net wrap balers at least once a season and get the wrap out before it destroys the bearing. This was told to me by a JD dealer service man when he delivered a new baler. The wrap will be melted into what looks like a large plastic washer and will build up to the point that it takes out the bearing seal. An overhead hoist will help in doing this. This roller is heavy. I found this to be a worthwhile maintenance

you don't want to touch the wrap or the rubber rolls with dirty, sweaty hands or the netwrap will stick to the rolls.

powder your hands before changing rolls or anytime your in the netwrap compartment, also powder rubber feed rolls.

7000' roll $220, minimum of 2 wraps per bale depending on how much your going to handle them.
will never go back to twine, just remember BABYPOWDER is your friend when working with netwrap.

JD recommends 1 3/4 to 2 1/4 wraps and on a 4 ft wide baler it costs about $1.25/bale. Tx Jim

price a roll of wrap - then 3.14 (pi) times the height you usually make bales times about 2.5 wraps each and u will know the cost -

but you are right net wrap look better, keep better transport better and sell better - but one of the biggest reasons to use it is the speed at which you can start the next round bale while baling....

I think I saw a 6000ft roll for around $225. So do your math and you have your answer.

It's not that big a deal to get off and it does a super job of protecting the bale from the weather.
