Need a source for vintage plow bolts

I have a No. 5 JD 3-14 plow of '20s vintage and need to replace some of the bolts on the shares and moldboards. JD and TSC do not carry or are not able to come up with any. These bolts have the single tab projection on the underside of the head instead of the four corners (like carriage bolts) used on todays plows. I need a variety of sizes and so would like to know of a source if anyone out there has one.

Try your local hardware store. I don"t mean Home Depot or Lowes. I mean the little guy that has been in business for 50 years with bins and bins of goodies completely disorganized but he could tell you where every nut, bolt, and washer is. That is where I found some when the JD store didn"t have any in stock.

Jon,

It really surprises me that John Deere can't come up with that bolt style.

Lots and lots of different manufactures used that type of bolt right up into the mid seventies or thereabouts and in lots of different applications too, such as in the knife retaining bolts in forage harvestors.

Don't know where you are located, but any large agricultral dealer ought to be able to get you the bolts you need.
