Hi Guys,

I have a AC side delivery, pto driven, 10'hay rake with 4 bars. Also has a high, low, and tedder position gear box. On the side plate of the gearbox is a # stamped on it... 511007 with a ' SM ', right below the middle of the number, and maybe what looks like a 'G ' below that.
Any ideas on model #, age, parts and service manual ??? I can take digital picture if helpful.

I also have one of these AC PTO driven two speed-tedder rakes. Mine however is a bit of a homebrewed combined version of two models. The first one (believe the older) had the slip clutch assembly upon the output shaft of the gear drive box, with two swiveling wheels on the drive end and one wheel behind the basket. The second one had the slip-clutch on the reel-shaft, with but one swivel wheel on the drive end and two wheels behind the basket. Both machines had serious problems. The older machine entirely worn out from abuse. The newer machine had a broken gear box case. Exchanging, combining, and adding parts I wound up with a four wheeled hay rake. Yep, the swivels get unruly from time to time between farms. So, I slow down. Advantage of four wheels thought, it has bottomed out but once since then. For tires I have found several spare 16 donut spare tires from a number of the more compact cars. Some wheels also bolt on. As for tines, I likely have enough to last me/it my lifetime. Sure would like a book on it, even zeroed.

I have one too. Allis-Chalmers PTO Tedder Rake, never had a model number. 1947-55? The #7 with a 2-speed gearbox and the caster wheel behind the basket replaced it around then. I found my parts/operators/service manual (all one book) on eBay. Teeth are still available from Valu- Bilt, I believe, but AGCO has little, if anything for them. I found used spare parts for mine through the classifieds on this site.

Sounds just the one Dad bought new in 1949. Probably first built a year before. Don't know about a model #. Saw a manual for it this morning at the AC show in Hutchinson, MN. Std was one wheel right front, one wheel left rear. Dual wheels were an option for wet fields. Tedder position works nice for fluffing up a wet windrow. We used low gear to rake straw, with the WC in fourth gear. Crazy wheel on right front liked to wobble at high speed on the road.
