I have a jd 214T, it picks up hay but don't feed it,just piles up over the auger, (I did tighten the auger clutch and it works good). It worked great last time I used it but now I have to stop about every bale to clean all the hay out of the baler to get it to make another bale. I picks up hay good, just piles it over the auger hopper. Anybody have any ideals???
Thanks KraigWY

I have a 214 T baler that has rods over the pickup teeth that holds the hay down to feed it under the auger, they have a spring to hold them down on the hay. bought the year i got hitched!!!

Here one thing that happened on my 14T years ago and just an idea for you. The auger had broke and it would turn and even feel good and tight but when the hay started to fill in the thing would stop and of course have the problem you have. Also is it floating like it should? if it doesn't then that could be your problem

Gee...that is a puzzler. I have a 224T and the only time it does that is when it is overloaded.
How heavy are your windrows? I have had a small amount of trouble with really stemmy hay on rare occasions. Maybe some of the guys who do it more could have some ideas. Have you tried it on a smaller windrow to see if it does it better?

Hmmmm....still puzzled. I would listen to "old" first and make sure the auger is working. Take a bale or two and cut the strings and rebale it. The flakes will make the auger really bounce and you should be able to see what is going on as you feed it in. BE CAREFUL. Don't lean in too far and get caught on the pickups. I'd be interested in hearing what turns up.

Question, does the auger stop when hay gets up there?

If so I'd say auger (or drive) has a problem as said.

If not, it could be several things or a combo of;

Windrow to small, hay bunches up at pickup and won't feed or feeds in clumps.
Hay damp (to heavy), auger doesn't grab and carry across.
Pickup outa wack, Holds on to hay and won't let auger carry over.
Too much rust build up, Holds on to hay and won't let auger carry over (worse when damp).
Feed fork not working, not moving hay, and it bunches up on auger.
Dinged up auger wraps hay around itself.
