baler driveline question

Mine slips over the drawbar and has a pin with a spring loaded keeper to lock in fore and aft onto the bar. Then a screw on each side with each having a locknut locks her in place.

I didn't know about these things and put up with the noise for a lotta years and had to do a lot of pasture trimming cause I couldn't cut a sharp turn.

Then lo and behold I buy this JD 530 round baler this year and with it came the equal angle hitch....whoa what's this? First time I used it I found out.

So off to the old iron store I go and found another for $50. Now my cutting tractor has one on it for cutting and the baler has one for balin. Wouldn't be without it.

Another point. I have recently purchased a JD baler. With it I got a drawbar extension of about 12". It puts the tongue of the baler behind the rear wheels. I can turn that baler so that the rear tire of the tractor almost touches the tongue and the u-joints don't say a word.

The last baler i had didn't come with that; just connected directly to the drawbar and it too rattled going around corners and it had a mis dimensioned drive shaft so that the u-joints stayed lined up properly.

2 good clues there. should get you out of the ditch.

I looked at it in the middle of a turn once and the drive shaft made a perfect (best I could tell eyeballing it from the seat) 45 degree angle when I (the tractor) was almost 90 degrees to the tongue....the rear wheel was just about to touch it.
