Can I send anyone any ? Pleeease ??? I've got more than my fair share and I'd like to give them away . I have to use the chainsaw to cut through the humidity to get to the tractor then I have to have scuba gear on to breath through the mosquitos and football padding and helmet to keep the horseflies from knocking me out . Next things we here in Iowa get to look forward to : black biting nats , sweat bees and then , this fall , our favorites , the ASIAN BEETLE and the stink that goes with them . Ain't life in the country grand !?!? From here on till frost I can't get much done outside around here unless I put on around a bottle of poison and then things still crawl into my ears if I'm still for more than a few seconds ( working under the truck for example ) It's painful just taking the trash to the burnpile in the woods behind the house ! Been doing it here for 17 years though . I caught a sqeeter the size of a ping-pong ball sucking on my arm a while ago . Named it " Dead " , after I petted it it didn't want to come to me . Unfriendly critter . It did blush a wet looking bright red before it flattened down tight next to my skin hoping I wouldn't see it , like a cat in tall grass . Ya'll have a good weekend !!! ...Randy

Do ya'll have to deal with equine encephalitis yet? It has been getting to be more of a problem here in NC over the last couple of years. Danged Asian tiger mosquitos love the humidity and heat around here and seem to take delight in trying to fly into the ears, nose, or mouth of anything that moves and breathes.

I second the old HVAC squirrel cage aimed appropriately -- there are several "Road Warrior" looking fans (what my brothers jokingly call them) that get used in the shops for about half the year to at least make the little buggers have to work to get to you.

Skeeters have gotten so bad that I almost dread going bow or blackpowder hunting until the first frost -- now that is what I consider "affecting the quality of life."

Anemic? - naw, just been outside in the early evening feeding the skeeters. ;>)

all towns and cities in Manitoba are now being fogged despite some protests. Mosquito pop. is extremely high due to record June/early july rainfall. risk of West Nile Disease is high. Still unlikely but who wants to be one of the chosen ones!!

Bugs don't like wind. In the shop, set up a squirrel cage fan with a bit of sheet metal angled up toward your face. I put wheels on mine and move it to whereever I'm working. If it's sturdy enough it makes a good mount for a halogen light as well. A flat panel on top makes a tool shelf.

We have a rolling table with a shelf underneath. The Kero Jet heater sets on the shelf,the squirel cage fan on the top. Can also be used as a place to hook lights on. Easy to move and doesn"t take up much room. Works for us.
