I was at the ag center the other night looking around and saw a 4-16 roll over plow. Now I've spent the last 3 days trying to come up with a reason the wife will accept for why I need one and a bigger tractor to use it on. Growing up on a farm that was run by her great-grandfather who was still doing everything with draft horses through the mid 50's she doesn't quite understand wanting anything newer or bigger. Unless of course it's another horse for her to play with :)

My darned real job is sure interferrin' with my play time, so I don't get to get out there and get things done like I want.

But today, I finally had time to get that silly packer hitch pulled off the old gal and it is startin' to look more like a plow now and that's 700 lbs that the old tractor won't have to drag around anymore. :>)

Go get the plow. Purely from your standpoint of course, it will do more for you than any silly Viagra ever would. :>)

What makes ya think you need a bigger tractor? They pull no harder than an ordinary plow.

Seriously, own one of these things and you'll never look back; they are just that good. Expensive, but good. :>)

And hurry. 'Fore somebody else gets it 'cause I'm spreadin' the word, ya know. :>)

There is no way my A-C B is going to move that thing. In fact it'll probably put both front tires in the air. If I was working more than 15 acres I would definitely have it home already. Easier to ask forgiveness than to ask permission. But for no the A-C with it's 2 way plows will get the little bit of ground I have turned.

Vince - don't listen to Allen. He has never had one good excuse for buying anything new that a female would ever believe!! : )
Here's what I do - buy the thing and store at a friend / neighbor's place. Bring it home a few pieces at a time. Ask the wife to come out to the barn once in a while to hold a piece while you bolt something back together. If she asks anything the CORRECT response is: "Honey (said very lovingly) I know money is tight - that's why I'm building this thing one piece at a time - and I really, really, really appreciate your help. I simply could not do this without your expertise".
(Keep some fingers crossed behind your back)
The say: "You know, by building my own machinery like this, I'll be able to get you that new (insert whatever applies - dishwasher, car, new hair-do, etc.) a lot sooner than we thought". (Keep fingers crossed behind back at all times)

What I do is just kind of off-handedly throw it in the pile with the other stuff. She don't even know it's out there.

Well, that is, until it's time to buy parts fer it and she wants to know what "this plow bill is all about"? :>)

Only problem is the thing she is itching for now is a new Kimber .45. That thing will cost almost as much as the stinkin plow. I do like the idea of bringing it home in parts and putting it back together. But how am I supposed to get a 25 year old blond home in pieces. And then how do I explain where she came from.

I'm thinking if I tell her we can use it to create a riding ring for her she might go for it. Through in that I can also add in corn for the horse and it should work. In a few short years I've learned, my job is to keep the hay coming. Her job is to play with her horse and the goats. Thats okay though, I don't have to brush down the old iron before and after I use it. Heck it only gets a bath when it rains while I'm working. Only problem is it is getting cheaper to feed the horse than the tractor with these stinkin gas prices.
