Hi

Bought this used baler and have been reasonably happy with it. Made approx. 75 first cutting bales that while they looked good I felt they could have been a little tighter.
So 2nd cutting I increased the tension, gauge still safely in the green (if its accurate) and made 50 bales that were just what I wanted nice and tight but now to the ?? I had 2 pins break in belt splices. Am I causing this by to much tension ? Normal wear and tear? or should I have replaced the pins at start of season as a maintanence item ?

By the way I am not sressing things by pushing the envelope on diameter, am about 6" below full sized.

Thanks Steve

Steve,it's best to replace lacing pins(cables) every 1000/2000 bales depending on type soil. They are a little difficult to remove when in pieces. If you ever have to relace any belts try the newer riveted laces as I think they last alot longer and pins are easier to change.Tx Jim

Do not use the pins on the JD Belts use the plastic coated stainless steel cable. The cable distributes any shock load to all the hooks better than a pin does. If you use the pins you will have edge fastener problems.

i agree HayDr. those coated pins are definately alot better than fixing belts all the time!!
