I have a 1400 Gehl. mine makes a 4x5 bale. it has belts and has a closed throat, with a 1 peice platform belt in the bottom. I store my bales inside a barn. if I stored outside I would get a newer baler that makes a tighter more weather proof bale. mine had new belts when I bought it. the belts are the newer tpye with the tread on the hay side of the belt and it still gives me fits sometime starting a bale. when starting a bale, the hay doesn"t slip on the tread of the belt. the smooth side of the belt slips on the drive roller. I must start slow with an even feed. once the bale starts to roll, you got her made. I"ve seen old gehls with old smooth worn out belts at auctions and always wondered how in the heck they started a bale with them

I'm not familiar with that particular model, but we have a 1310 drum type.
For a smaller sized baler, it seems to work great. Makes a nice 800# bale, and doesn't knock all the leaves off the alfalfa.

Bob,

I've never seen one work, but I know folks who have owned 'em and they say they are one of the best that they have ever owned.

Is that the model with the rollers vs belts or chains?

Allan
