Anybody had any experience with a Krone Disc Mower? My uncle was thinking about getting one and didn't know much about them.

MITCHP, I live near Gene H. that HayDR mentioned. He usually has new and used ones in stock. The Krone is a gear bed mower, gears run in oil. It dosen't have belts, uses shafts. In park position, it stands by itself, no parking stand. To hold the blade in transport position, a valve is closed in the hydraulic line. Other makes like the Agco line uses the same system which I don't like because if I understand it correctly, its holding power depends on the O rings in the hyd. cylinder to hold it up. Maybe HayDR can comment on this. Like HayDR said, it is a premium, well made mower.

In this day in time with the litigious society we live in Krone would have changed it long ago if there was just one accident due to a failure in there system. I may like another system better but Krones works fine. I happen to like shaft drive cutterbar mowers better because the shaft drive mowers are lighter on the 3 point and need 20% less HP to operate. The Krone mowers are well made and do give a good finish product cut.
