I have a JD 14-t baler, JD model 39 sickle bar mower, and JD 851 parallel bar rake that I need to sell.
I spent last winter going through the baler and the sickle bar mower and they are now in great working condition with many new parts.
The rake on the other hand, while it works and looks okay, most of the teeth are original and it needs u-joints.

What do you guys think this stuff is worth?

Thanks, Phillip

Jim, I stop in here once in a while, ask a few questions. This is a good place.

Indy, I sent you some pictures along with a more detailed description of each piece. -phillip

A few things.... 1st. The price of a baler, rake, and mower can (and will) fluctuate with seasons. I'm in Kentucky also. (Near Louisville) The drought isn't helping the value of hay equipment any for sure. The price of hay however..... $$$$$

Without seeing your equipment, I'll just try to generalize somewhat. (I'm familiar with prices in this area)

Also, I'd like a shot at seeing and maybe BUYING those pieces. Even with that, I'll be fair with my "guess" at the price.

Working 14T balers sell for a low of around $500 to as much as $2500 here in the summer. Winter prices tend to dip down to $400 to $1500

The #39 mower, in fair to good shape will bag about (low) $275 to (high) $750, depending on condition. Winter price is $250 to $500

I saw an 851 rake sell for $875 this past saturday. It was in "average" shape, with new tires, and missing a few teeth. I've seen 'em at a low of $475 to a high of $1000. Winter price? $400 to $750.

If you'd like, e-mail me at "[email protected]" (less quotation marks). I'd like to see what you're selling.
