changing teeth on sickle blade?

would someone let me know how Ican change out some teethe on my sickle blade? Or do you have to buy a whole new blade?

Yes you can.... (Follow directions in post just below mine.) I just walked in from the shop where I did two 7' sections for a New Holland mower. I have the big ol' throbbin' blue thumb to proove it.....OUCH!

Hi One Way to avoid the blue thumb is If you have a Vise Put the Sicle let it be a little loose.Take a Regular Claw Hammer and Hit the Section on the Back Edge Forceing the Section to Shear the Rivets It might take a Few Hits and all fingers and thumbs are clear.When you have removed the sections you need to replace take a Small punch and remove the rivets from the bar.Hope this helps.Please Wear Safty Glasses When doing this task.

You can change the knives on your bar. I assume your are riveted on or you wouldn't be asking this question.
Remove the bar from the machine by disconnecting the drive mechanism and pulling it knife bar out.
You need an anvil or somthing similar with a good square edge. hold the bar on the edge of the anvil with the knives pointing down hanging over the edge and whack the back edge of the knife with a good size hammer to shear off the two rivets holding it on the bar.
To install new knives, clean off the rust and dirt on the bar and put on a new knife with two new rivets. Making sure the knife is tight against the bar and the bar on the anvil whack the top of the rivet to flatten it.
Small bolts are available that replace the rivets but you have to use hold down clips that have a higer arch to provide clearance for the bolt heads. I find that if the bolts have been on a few years they break when removing any way.
Once you get the hang of it riveting is not much harder than bolting.
