I put an ad up in the local coop two weeks ago looking for some hay to cut on shares. A guy called and had 15 acres, I looked at it and decided to cut it. First time on that large of acres most I can find around my area is 3 to 5 acres parcels, what a pain they are. I cut on Tuesday, rakes on Thursday and decided I would start and try to finish Friday evening. Forecast called for clear and sunny until Sunday evening, but got 2/3's of it baled and here came the rain. Rained off and on all night, I got .25 at my place. It has happened on every hay crop I've baled this year.

Are you a newbie?? "Everbody" knows that in order to make it rain you HAVE to mow hay; it is part of the great kommanist conspiracy. best, Phil

I can relate - that's farming! I nicknamed my swather "The Rainmaker" :D:D Tedder/rake it and bale it when it dries up - the cattle don't seem to know the difference!

Hey fellows, when you post rain reports, or frost reports, things like this are very interesting, but would be more interesting to know about where you are at. Some of the guys I"ve got figured out, I am a old man who gets out of the house when I have a Dr. appointment, and I pass a lot of time at the computer reading your posts. They make my day. Thanks

Delbert,
I'm in southeastern Washington state. We normally don't get any rain this time of year, but it seems like we get some every week. I had .25 at my house and 12 miles away where I'm haying they got .60.

No, I'm not a newbie. I was raised on a farm, but have not done anything farm related until about 8 years ago when we bought a small acreage. I bale about 4 acres on my place, but since I have a few cows I needed hay so I cut where ever I can find some.

Just B4 the 4th, I cut 2nd time. We're record dry right now so I left it on the ground and left a flatrack with 100+ bales on it outside trying to tempt the rain gods....didn't work! We did manage a little over 1/2" on the 4th though.
Unless it gets a lot wetter, I don't have to worry about a 3rd cutting.

Southwest Missouri, specifically southeast of Springfield, no measurable since June 6th. Didn't even start the tractor to cut hay. Already feeding hay and buying it. Harley
