Hi there...:)

Im in really big trouble here.

My good old NH 268 is sometimes breaking the wire in the knotters ( i have cleaned the knotters and there is NO sharp corners or any signs of a defekt)

Maybe it need a major overhaul ????.

But where do i begin seeking for the error ????

I have tried to lokate some people who have experience in these old balers, but here in Denmark, it is impossible to find someone who knows about theese balers, or even have any litterature about these maschines.

Any help will be usefull

Cave.

I had problems with my NH269 breaking the twine and to make a long story short it turned out to be the twine. When I used 9000 it would break it but if I use 7200 it worked perfect. There may be some tension adjustment but I didn"t mess with it, I just use 7200 and I just baled 1500 bales and only missed two knots. I should add that the guy I bought the baler from had put a new knotter on in 1996 so that part is not that old.

Funny, my NH 268 Hayliner uses twine! Anyway, just got a copy of the owner's manual directly from the New Holland website on the internet. Cost less than $10, US, Postage was more than manual. You may have to look a little harder for a manual on a wire tie, however. STEVE FORM NEW HOLLAND - YOU LISTENING?

It`s also twine i use in the baler...:)

But i have been in contact with the danish importer of theese mashines, and they dont have theese books any more ( the baler is to old ), and the people who know theese models is retired, so i dont know what else to do...:(

The twine balers form NH even older than yours are very well supported here in the USA and manuals are fairly easy to get - from New Holland, from ebay, from any of the manual selling places. Getting one overseas could be more difficult I understand.

Can you describe what exactly is happening, when it is happening, how often it is happening - there are some good baler folks here, if you give more details they might steer you in the right direction.

I would thank you all for your good advice, nice to talk with people who know what they are talking about....:)

My problem was solved when i change the twine and a do little adjustment to the knotters ( i have found some other tread in this forum who discribe a problem like mine on another NH baler model), so thank you, folks and may the weather be with you for the rest of the season....:)
