14' Servis shredder

I'm needing 12 of the rubber spacers that connect the drive shaft to the gearbox on my 14' Servis (doesn't fold) shredder. It seems that someone permanently borrowed them. I'm told the model number is 1310 but can't be sure because I can't find a plate anywhere. My parts man tells me $30 - $40 each (times 12) and $3 each for the bolts (times 18 I think). There's no way I'm going to pay that kind of $$$ for some little rubber discs or bolts. Does anyone out there have any to fit that they'll sell cheap (maybe off a salvage shredder) or know where I can get any or how I can make them myself? Thanks for any help.

I have a 10' Servis shredder. Two years ago one of the rubber friction discs finally dry-rotted and broke. In the process of the breakdown, a few more were torn off. I found them for $35 each; all 12 needed replacing. I used some conveyor belting (it was about the same thickness as the original discs) I found in a junk pile. I took the rubber belting to a machine shop and they pressed the discs out with a die. I used a hole saw to cut the holes for the bolts. If you can find the belt, you can make the discs with a jigsaw or scroll saw, it just takes more time. You can go back with a grade 5 bolt, I think they are 3/8 or 7/16 inch. Last week, I tore the splines out of one of the female shafts connected to the rubber discs. Do you know where I may be able to fine one? Hope this helps you out.

I was looking at a Serivs a few years ago, and although it was cheap, it had a vibration which didn't appear easy to fix and worth the effort. With that limited exposure, I ask the question, are you sure that the OEM rubber bushings/disks didn't give some damping effect which was lacking from your home-made versions? That could explain the spline failures.

That would be a logical explanation, however, the splines on the shredder were wore when I bought it, which is why I got it real cheap. I only expected it to last a few years (it has lasted almost 15 years). The bushings I made are actually a bit softer than the OEM bushings.
