Kinda OT question

I figure this is the right board to ask this, with all the hay experts about.

What is a hay mow? is it the same as a hay loft? I have never heard the mow term used here, but have been in a few lofts in my life, both for fun and profit.

Thanks

Keith

Keith , they are one and the same,in my part of the world (southern Ontario) we have always refered to it as a mow:n,m -ow, thus piling the bales was refered to as mowing hay. When we cut hay as in mowing the hay we have the long "o" sound. I don't know why we don't call it a loft, I believe that is an American term, I guess regionalism or colloquialism of terms..I still have several hundred bales to mow!..'er pile in the loft...Mike in Exeter Ontario

Around here (southern Michigan) it is. Probably 'cause after a day stacking in the mow, you'd be plenty (ow) sore.

Y'all have a good'n
Anthony.
