I just bought a KingKutter 6' Brush Hog and have started to set it up. The lift arm braces seem to be way to long? The area to cover is about 53.5" and the arms are over 59". I tried to bend them but still seem to be about 4-5" short of matching up the holes to the lift arms. I plan on drilling new holes at where the lift arm matches with the braces. Does anyone see a problem with doing this?

Also to those who buy a KK. Make sure all your parts are there when you pick it up. And make sure that the pin connector on the PTO hookup is not RUSTED open. I tried wd40, myster oil and it wouldn't move. I then hammered it in and it would come back out! I have to return the PTO shaft and exchange it for one that works!

I have a new 6 ft KingKutter and I didn't have any problem hooking up my arms. Before you go punching holes in the deck (and thus voiding your warranty) you might check at www.kingkutter.com and ask their customer service people for some help. I presume you got the installation manual and are following it's instructions. Mine went together just like the book said but I was missing a spacer which the seller furnished me when I told them about the problem.

Well, I "fixed" the problem. I assumed that the lift arms were installed correctly by the factory. Unfortunately it was a poor assumption. The arms and small support braces were reversed, when corrected, i get the 4-5 inches I need to install the arms correctly. I couldn't believe I didn't realize it sooner but just was bent (no pun intended) on making those braces fit. Thanks for the info though.
