Hi , Just wondering if you got your 14T timed ? If not did you have the feeder teeth pivot in the bottom hole ? Are you measuring horizontally from the top of the feeder support to the middle of the feeder teeth ? If the plungerhead to needle adjustment is moved after the feeder teeth have been adjusted then the feeder adjustment will change . As long as the measurement is between 16-3/4 " to 18-1/4 " it'll be OK . You didn't remove the drive sprocket from the feeder crank did you ? If so re-align the marks . If you are out baling with it ----Never mind . Good luck and take care ...Randy

Randy,will you explain if I'm reading your post correctly how feeder finger timing changes by adjusting needle timing?I understand that main drive chain effects both settings but not needle timing adjustment.On every JD baler I ever worked which is several 100,I snugged frt. chain,checked &/or set feeder fingers and set timing on needles.Thanks, Tx Jim

Hi Jim , This is a quote directly from the operator's manual page 23 , step 11 - " If plungerhead and needles are not timed properly , make final adjustment by again removing main drive chain and moving plungerhead away from needles if they are less than 1" apart or toward needles if they are more than 2-1/4" apart . It is preferable to adjust plungerhead closer to the 2-1/4" rather than the 1" clearance . Replace main drive chain and shield . NOTE: THIS WILL CHANGE THE 17-5/8" FEEDER TOOTH DIMENSION WHEN PLUNGERHEAD IS CENTERED IN SLOT . THE FEEDER TOOTH AND PLUNGERHEAD WILL STILL BE IN TIME IF THE DIMENSION IS BETWEEN 16-3/4" AND 18-1/4" " . Old was having headaches getting the feederteeth timed and this was a possible cause . I didn't mean to step on anyones toes . I was just quoting these directions to him in case he overlooked them in the manual . I'm certainly not trying to appear to be an expert on balers but I was giving some ideas for him to double check . Sometimes it's the little things you've done a thousand times before that get overlooked especially when more than one person is working on a machine . And since I'm no expert on balers since I've worked on a total of one ( I have two 14t's and I have just about torn one completely apart and re-assembled it with home made - read local welding/machine shop - parts since Deere parts are unreasonably high ) I was only going thru my manual to find possible causes for him . Nope haven't got it timed yet, my helper went to CO. so I haven't played with it since.
