Got my 6 acres of oats hay cut. My 469 sure likes cutting that stuff. Cuts through it like butter.

I agree with the other response not much valeu in it is only trouble. I combine then bale andf the straw is very valuable then, I am looking for more as I am still getting bookings foe it. Same with oats grain normally can't afford to grow it. But i need the straw. Will be planting Japanese millet soon after rye harvest next week.

So what do you do with all the grain? It"d be a waste to just dump it in the ditch, just to get the straw.

Yes ; Iknow what animals eat it been there done that back few years. Hogs now are total confinememnt contract stuff and you really have to look hard to find many cattle in my area. I feed it to sheep. But the price given for it you can't make anything. It goes to horse niche market but it can be a real hassle to mess with. The straw it is no problem sellingwill be running short this year due to growing demand,so I am looking for extra

Use oats? If you have pigs or chickens - oats make a good feed mix with corn, cows liked it also in ground feed mix. Soaked and sprouted oats well liked by just weaned little pigs. RN

I have read about people feeding a limited amount of oats to thier sows and whatnot. Figured there would be to much fiber for the little ones. I know cattle love the stuff. Friends dad feeds some to their mini horses, and the cows would break into the bin if they could. Lack of fingers and thumbs makes it a bit difficult though.
