How thick the baler brake pads?

NH 66 baler has a pair of small brake pads for the needle yoke, and another on the knotter. Can anybody tell me how thick the pad material should be on both? What is the thinnest they can be and still work? And is there a new part no. that'll work as well as the original pads?

Thanks for any and all info! I don't want to have to buy new parts if I don't have to, but it seems that both brakes are slipping and it doesn't seem like tightening the springs is helping much anymore.

the yoke brake is not applying much pressure at all. I tightened the springs as tight as they'll go and still not much pressure...don't seem them bottoming out anywhere, except there is a spacer that prevents the pads from clamping too far, which is why I'm beginning to think they're simply worn too far. I'm afraid I'm going to have to order new pads...phooey!

The pads are rivited. If the pads are not worn down to the rivits, they are still ok. Steve
