Is the solid tine bar found on the 565 a direct replacement for the spring loaded deathtraps found on the 316 and similar? As you know, NH no longer supplies the complete spring loaded assembly. I rebuilt one for the first time today and was unimpressed with the time it took and possibility for injury if very little were to go wrong.

What I have started doing is taking the spring out and and putting it back together and putting a bolt through it to keep it from telescoping and it works good.We done some experimenting with this on some of my balers and then took them to the field and loaded them up with a big tractor and trying to break them and they would put out a perfect bale and never broke the bolt or the tine bar and now I have a huge stack of springs here at the shop and those green balers are leaving this part of the country[where they shouldn't of ever been to start with]

Rick, I have not checked out recently if New Holland has made that change or not. A couple of years ago I had checked and they did not. Having said this, I have told my co-workers that in the future if we have 315/316 tine bar assemblies break, we will be looking into putting a 565 assembly in the balers. I know most things are the same, the only thing I have not checked out is the length of the tine bar assemblies. IF the length is the same, by all mean, put a 565 assembly in your 316. Steve

I will save the replaced aluminum square tube from the 316 and compare it to the next 565 I work on. Trouble is, we sell 70's and 75's about 10 to one against 565's.
