After many years of running the ol' Case IH 8360, it's time for something new. I found a John Deere 930 that is in good shape(shiny paint & no welds) for $8500. Anybody have words of wisdom about this model? Are they a good machine? I have found a lot of impeller conditioners for sale so they must be rather popular. Are they worth it?

Thanks for you help.

E

I have the impeller style on my Kuhn. I like it alot, the conditioning intensity is adjustable for varying crops alfalfa/ grass hay. Never had any troubles in alfalfa. no more hay wrapped up in the rollers. I would buy another one if I was doing it again...Jim

I can"t comment on the JD or the Kuhn or indeed alfalfa, although I get the impression reading these posts that disc mowers/ conditioners do tend to knock the leaves off. The Lely impeller type mo/co I had certainly made silage/haymaking that bit quicker. You hardly ever see crimper type conditioners over here, but maybe its a climate issue.

My father-in-law is going nutts about the 930. He wants to know how much it weighs. If you could tell me it would take some heat off of our conversations and let us get back to work.

I've never seen one - impellers don't do well on alfalfa, & that is the main hay crop around here.
