Where does the coulter run in relation to the plow point? I've come up with a 3 X 14 MH62. Every coulter is different. One is inside the point, one outside and one over the point. Height off the point is different also on each one.

Every plow requires a different setting depending on the soil and moisture conditions if you want to do a really GOOD job. As a basic starting point set the coulter about 1/4 the width of the plow (14" plow/3 1/2") above the point and 1/4" to 1/2" to the land side of the point. In real hard clay ground you may have to go higher and in real soddy ground lower. Make sure the coulter hubs are in good shape bearing-wise and that the coulters are not worn down too small. If it's supposed to be a 18" coulter and it only measures 16", consider replacing it. A properly set up coulter won't make up for a worn out plow, so check the rest of the rig and replace what needs replacing, if you can find the parts.

Every plow manual I've ever read says 3/8" to 5/8" to the landslide side of the point. I tend to favor the 5/8" measurement.
