Well we spent from 7:30-9:00 trying to retime this thing and every time we would set one thing right then something else was wrong. We have the book but if we get the 17-5/8 set on the feeder fingers and then put on the main chain and then the knotter chain as the book says then the needles come up to slow or the piston to fast, not able to get the 2-1/4 or close. What the #$%^@# is up with this crazy thing.
Thanks

Yep, what he said.

Start by timing the feeder fingers to the plunger, then put the main drive and feeder drive chains on.

Then set the plunger and the needles where you want them, then put on the knotter drive chain.

That should do it, if it won't hold that setting, check for worn out parts somewhere.

old,on a Deere baler it's easier to time if frt.chain is installed first, then time feeder fingers and then time needles.Because of the large difference in sizes of the two main chain sprockets it's difficult to adjust timing at main chain. Yrs. ago I tried timing at main chain and gave up.Tx Jim

Hi Old , I've never done this to my baler so I'm not an expert but I was wondering if you had counted the right number of links in the chains if you are putting on new ones ? Good luck with it ....Randy
