OK, I just saw the pictures of your setup in the implement photos section. How does your bale buncher work? I can't seem to figure out how it puts the bales in rows. Could you explain how? Thanks, Rich

RichIA; get yourself an accumulator and grapple and be done with it. Unless you have helpers the buncher still has to be picked up by someone. One you learn to use grapple you won't go back. Will be running this afternoon if want see one working. You in Iowa somewhere i take,Im in southeast corner, might be able run this afternoon.

Rick, I would love to get an accumulator, but there is no way to justify one on the 5 acres I have right now. I'm just west of Des Moines, 6 miles or so in Adel. After I get a mower conditioner, I'll be working on a better rake and bale accumulator. Rich

After reviewing the pic's I understand how it works but its easy to see that nothing is uniform as there are no controls except the gate. The advantages are limited but its better than nothing. It does not leave bales assembled for pickup with a bale (grapple) fork and the number of bale on it are at the operators discretion and probably results in numerous damaged bales. Maybe better than a stooker. I'm not sure.

The bales drop from the chute onto the buncher
where the bales ride on 1/2 rods spaced 8 inches
apart. Each bale slides toward the rear gate till
the buncher is full, usually around 10 bales. I
then pull a rope from the tractor which lifts a
gate lock and the weight of the bales push open the gate and the bales are in one group. The gate
rides over the bales and shuts for reset. Next
time around the field you try to dump near the
last pile. No bales are ever damaged or get dirty.
I got mine about 10 years ago and it was some of
the best money ever spent, about $450.

so does your buncher just collect them in no specific order or pattern or does it, for lack of better words, stack the bales like an accumulator, ready for a grapple to pick them up.

I have a buncher as well. It just groups the bales together. It does not arrange them for a grapple. We used it to put the bales in bunchs for stooking or loading. Elimindates walking around the field after bales.
