New Holland Super 66 Square Bailer

Does anyone know of an equivalent part/source for the wheel spindles/axels on the Super 66 bailer? The axels are no longer available from New Holland. There may be another source that someone has found. CT Supply has stub spindles but the diameter and lenth are not a match. Thanks Farmguy

Have both here and both have brass sleeve bushings for bearings and do not remember book showing anything else, 66 & S66

I have a 66, not super, with axles and hubs, no wheels that I would take axles off of. I am in SC. don't know where you are. Wheels are standard ag wheels, I used wheels off JD grain drill to get it home. Hubs have bushings, not bearings. Post back if I can help.

Thanks for the replies from all.

My parts book shows axles with bearings, must be an upgrade from the original parts. The right side has bearings while the left has what is left of a bushing. The New Holland dealer said that the parts are no longer available, so if someone has leftover parts, please let me know. There are a lot of options that have been suggested, like starting with new spindles from a trailer shop, or having the old one machined for bushings. Thanks Again Farmguy

I did this for a NH67: Got some round bar stock, hard steel, cut to length, drilled mounting holes in it. Got old car spindle, hub and wheel. Cleaned grease from bearings and spindle. Cut ball joint support arm off at spindle, cut flat place on face of spindle. Tack welded bar on spindle. Assembled bearings and hub dry, put wheel(no tire) on. Clamped assembly upright, spun wheel gently and hammered wheel until wheel turned level(we're not racing at Indy here, just pulling baler behind tractor) When running level, weld enough to hold, then remove wheel, hub, and bearings so serious welding can be done which would heat up the bearings. Build up weld to satisfaction, assemble with grease and new wheel after allowing assembly to cool. Mount tire and try out. Somebody is still running the 67. You could cut off the ruined axle to mount new spindle. The issue with bushings is that they heat up when pulling on the road, especially on the heavy side. BIL did not know this and pulled a 66 about 20 miles at road speed behind truck. Wheels had an interesting wobble for as long as he had the baler. I don't remember banana bales with it, however.

I just ordered the axle bushings for my NH 66 yesterday, so I find it hard to believe the axles themselves are not available.

I'd suggest you ask your NH dealer to:

1) doublecheck the availability
2) if in fact they're not available, ask them to get NH to send the specs. My NH dealer has done this twice for me, for some Dearborn parts that were not available...got a regular machine-shop type drawing with all measurements so I could repro the part myself.

TAke some measuements and go to a trailer supply/manufacturer and they should match you up . Would probably be cheaper.
