I recently got a J D fully mtd.3x14 plow .Paint is nearly gone .Do any of you guys know what the Model # might be? Thanks

415/415A was a TWO-BOTTOM plow. The 416/416A was the THREE-BOTTOM version. Manuals are still common on E-Bay. (Same manual covers all versions)

Category 1 or 2 hitch? The 415/415A which bolts together are 2 or 3 furrow with a trailing wheel. About 1959 to mid 1960's. An otherwise identical plough but category 2 was sold with a different model number. Can't remember it at the moment. I have a 2x14 415A with the landing lever. Works fine unless on a hilly field with sharp knolls. Any trash, stones, spin holes in the furrow will cause grief for the next several rounds. As the front of back of the tractor rises or falls. The plough will sinks in and spin the tractor. Or pop out of the ground and not dig back in until the hydraulics are lowered. I just ploughed a few rolling acres of abandoned farm land that I cleared the thorns off last year. I couldn't go 50 ft without moving the depth lever. Hooking on stones and roots all the time. The soil changed from loam to brutal hard clay across the field. The furrows got narrower in the clay areas making the last few rounds part length to finish the field edge. The tractor I was using was pretty light with the JD 435 ballasted to only 4100lbs or so. The intent was to spin the tractor rather than risk breaking something when hitting an obstruction. I found a buried street sign, galvanised 1" water pipe, aluminium window frames, glass bottles and vehicle parts etc. The worst was old rotten hay that had been spread out years ago. The grass was growing through it and it looked like soil until turned up. Just a balled up mess of clumps and twine where deep.

It sounds like a 415 is what I've got .It is catagorie I hitch ,landing lever and tail wheel. I'll be pulling it with a 1989 2155 J.D. so don't see any real problems .Thanks guys for your help. KT

Any cracks in the casting the trailing wheel arm slides into? Mine is on the left side in the "ribs". I'm not 100% certain but I think Deere's 14" to 16" conversion bolts on these. The bracket that bolts between the frog and the shear is changed. And then 16" bottoms are bolted on. Is the cast frame for the rolling coulters a rather smooth and flowing curved piece? I had to shim a couple set screws that hold the round tube frame. The ones that loosen to slide the plough sideways for adjustment so the tractor tire runs in the furrow. I ordered the manuals for it from Mother Deere but they have not shown up yet. I had better call. I paid $300.00 Can peso's for mine. Got a good deal on a mounted 620 disk 7'8" on 9" centers the same day. It both looks and works real good in the tough sod.

Might be an 810 or a 216. the 216 was lighter plow for 420

If it has a large beam across the top of about4"x6" then it is probably an F125

It does not have a large beam ,it has bolt together segments like the old pull plows .I think they were a model 66 or 66H.
