Bought this NH 320 baler. Thing eats hay like a hog. One problem though it will bale 20-30 bales and then miss onte tie. Out of a hundred bales I might miss as many as 5. I baled one load today and had no misses. I just can't seem to figure out what's going on. I have the hydraulic tensioners and thought I might have the bales too tight. So I left them off a little and it still seems to do it. It doesn't seem to be one specific side either.

I started today going through the knotters and I had to adjust both needles they were off a little. I also had make some other minor adjustments however when I baled out of 144 bales I had 2 misties. I thought that was a little better. I will check the bill hook tension and I will also check the knife.

Without knowing the nature of the mistie, it is hard (impossible?) to say. Went on a baler call today, customer says "I saved some twine from yesterday." When repairing balers, it doesn't get any better than that. One minor adjustment to twine tension at the box, and he was good to go. Info is key; or go through a systematic knotter adjustment to find the cause of random misties.

What's happening with the knots??? Are they breaking behind the knot? Are they not tied at all?? Have you some one to turn the baler over by hand and watch what's happening when they go through their cylce?

You may want to flip up the knotter assembly and see how the knive arm runs over the bill hook. Also check and see if the knotter knive is razor sharp.

Your manual explains how to check stuff and has a trouble shooting page with pic's.
