International 430 Baler

I'm having problems with my International 430 Baler not knotting properly. The baler will tie 4 or 5 bales properly and then it will skip typing 3 or 4 bales. Also it will tie better on level ground than it will on hillsides. I've replaced the knives in the knotting mechanism and that hasn't seemed to help the problem. I'm using heavier twine -- 9,000 in it. Can anyone provide some suggestions for correcting the problem?

On your twisters the bail hook with the little rollers make sure theirs no dirt or crude under the bill hook that holds the twine.

Not saying this is your problem but, on my 420 baler I had that same problem.When it broke a needle I finally found the problem,it was out of time.

Boy Gary, I can feel your pain. A buddy of mine has an IH 430 and a 440 baler that we have attempted to use over the past 6 years. We've had very similar problems with the knotters. This guy NEVER loses his temper...except with the baler. We also have tried everything from adjusting the needles, to sharpening the knives to adjusting the twine discs....nothing has helped. He even brought in 2 highly regarded farm equipment mechanics and they couldn't figure it out. Finally today he found a solution..he's selling both IH balers and buying a New Holland. Sorry, wish I could give you better advice...
