I got the problem with the twine sliding off the bill hook fixed (I found the bill hook was broken) But now the side that I replaced the bill hook on now bales around 7 bales or so and the knot pulls apart. It looks like the leading peice of twine isnt getting pulled through the knot (the leading piece is through a simple knot in the trailing piece and just pulls out). I have adjusted the bill hook tension, adjusted the knive, but i dont have a manual so i dont know how they should be set. This doesnt happen on a regular basis it might go 7-8 bales and do it, sometimes it will do it 2 bales in a row, sometimes it will do it every other bale. I appreciate any help in the matter, im really getting frusterated with this thing. Thanks in advance

I had a 46 baler given to me a while back. I was going to restore and use it, but some one came around asking me if I wanted to sell it, and I was tired of tripping over it, so I gave it away. Well, I still have the manuals I bought over the internet for the baler. Let me see if I can find them. They will do you more good than they will me, I don't have a baler anymore. If I forget, keep in touch with me to keep it on my mind.

First and foremost, take the time to find the maunual for your baler. It will save you many hours of frustration and manybe a few expensive parts.

Make sure that your twine disc, bill hook and all other parts that the twine travels through are free from rust, burrs, bent or worn pieces. Make sure your twine tension isn't too tight, check your bale tension and make sure you are using good twine.

Good luck, I hope you get it going for you!

I was having the same problem with mine until i turned the tension nut about a quater of a turn. And then it hasn,t missed a bale in about 200 bales so far. Twine knifes need to be razor shape. Don,t run the old baler to fast i use a m on mine and run the motor at about half trottle or a little less.

Try getting closer to "time" with the other side. Found out on a neighbor's that the twine was knotting and coming off the other side before one side was tied. Also check the twine discs for burrs or nicks. Bale tension could be to tight also.
