Is the 336 an ancestor of the 328, 338 or 348?
What model years was the 336 built in?
What was the all the various models of Deere balers during 336 production?
A slob farmer a few miles away has an abandoned 336 sititng in the yard with 10 year old hay in it. A new JD is sitting outside too but it has bale thrower on it.
Just wondering what the baler really is. Before I show up dressed shabby and driving an old junker.

Hi, In 1970 Jd built 336 and 346, 1980's 327,337,347, and in the 1990 to present 328, 338, 348. The 336, 327, 328 are similar machines except the 327 and 328 have a wider feed.. 337 and 338 are similar and have the wide feed with extra pick up teeth. The 346, 347 and 348 are similar, have the wide feed with a stroke in the 90's while the rest are in the 60's. I have a 337 with a thower. Bill

the "6" series were built from 1971-1980, they include the 336, 346 and 466. the "7" series were built from 1981-1986, they include the 327, 337, 347 and 467. the "8" series are from 1987 to the present, they include the 328, 338, 348 and the 468. i would say the 338 is the newer version of the 336. i have a 336 myself and love it. just hollar for anything else you want to know.

I tried looking in the parts manual but I can't tell if the 336 has a wide or narrow pickup. Or if the pickup is a four or six bar unit. For bailing short straw without raking the wide six works better. If she's a mate to the 328. It's a narrow four. I didn't want to stop and have a snoop around the baler to see what it is when there is no for sale sign. It's a shame seeing her sit there outside near the road full of rotten hay. The newer JD with the bale thrower isn't getting any better treatment.

They don"t match up exactly, as Deere tweaked the line to better match market demand. The 328 is closer to a 336, and the 338 is closer to a 346, and a 348 has more capacity than a 346. Don"t see any of the 46x balers around here, nobody makes 16x18 bales.

Baled over 600 bales last night with a 467. The 16x18 are not that popular around here either, but that made the price of the baler really cheap! We can only get 84 bales on the stackliner also.

She's a clean and well card for looking baler. We are going to have to work on that tractor however. So you drop the bales and pick them up later? Around here we stack the bales directly on the wagon. Or use a bale thrower. Too much chance of rain soaking bales left outside.

We drop them and pick them up with a New Holland stack wagon. Hydraulics are a wonderful thing! That 560D will really start barking in heavy hay. It is a wonderful sound to hear the throbbing diesel with every plunger stroke.

I thought he was talkig about the missing hitch part... where the drawbar goes into the device that holds it from jerking around and also makes the PROPER piviot for the PTO

I've ran a 336 since 1973
