I"m new to tractors and such and just picked up a Ford 9N tractor and bush hog..
Have gone thru the tractor and everything is working properly.
But I have no experience with running or setting up a bush hog properly.
Can someone walk me thru the setup so that the hog runs correctly... I have the clutch adapter on the PTO shaft and understand the 3pt hitch and have used a 8N before with a box blade but never a bush hog.. The hog is a 5 ft of unknown make other than old.. One wheel on the rear....

several posts in the archives on this, this is very superficial coverage of the topic:

basically, set your rear wheel at about the height you want, then adjust the upper link so the front of the mower is a bit lower than the front, check how long its cutting the weeds and adjust as needed

too low and you clip rocks and maybe damage the blades/mower

if you have slip clutch, make sure its not rusted solid or set too tight, if shearpin, make sure pin isn"t too hard and get some spares

be careful and never let anybody ride on the back while mowing
